Mustard & Pepper Summer 2024
of the world thanks to my boy’s online persona “Hotshot Hamish.” I love finding new and creative opportunities to help promote the breed. I am hoping to breed a litter or two myself once I have graduated and settled into my career. I am looking forward to helping out in any way I can. I truly believe that online promotion will bring many fresh eyes to our beloved breed.
Congratulations!
2023 Windsedge and AKC Sportsmanship Awards Sandra Wolfskill, President Windsedge Award – 2023 Joanne “Jody” Moxham It was my pleasure to award the 2023 Windsedge Award to Joanne “Jody” Moxham, who has given generously of her time, talent and service to the club and the breed. “Jody,” as she is known to one and all, has been a member of the DDTCA since 1985. Over the decades she has been a devoted Dandie owner, breeder, and supporter of the club. Recently, when the DDTCA received a significant bequest to support efforts to reverse the “vulnerable breed” status of our Dandies, Jody accepted the role of chairing the Strategic Advisory Committee. During her tenue with that committee, several surveys, including breeding and health, were developed and completed. The committee also sponsored the Pat Trotter seminar, which is available on the club website ( www.ddtca.org). Recently, the committee has been working on interviews with legacy breeders as suggested by the American Kennel Club. Throughout her involvement with the committee, Jody’s leadership and insights have been a significant force for the preservation of our breed and have provided the groundwork for future activities by other committees within the club. AKC Sportsmanship Award – 2023 Karla Bevel The American Kennel Club encourages all AKC member clubs to annually recognize an individual who exemplifies the best sportsmanship in all aspects of the dog world– in competitions, clubs, and other activities. This year, is was my pleasure to present the award to Karla Bevel. In all of her activities, Karla demonstrates respect for judges and their decisions, fellow exhibitors, and others involved in the sport. As she likes to tell fellow exhibitors, “It’s about the journey with your dog and not the destination or goal! Always have a destination or a goal in mind, but never be so focused on the end that you miss the fun along the way!” Karla has expanded her presence within the club as the 2024 Membership chair, bringing her enthusiasm and code of conduct to one and all. She is truly a great representative of the breed and our club.
