Meet the Dandies at the Ohio Scottish Games by Diane Hanowitz

T he O hio S cottish G ames held its event in June and I was able to attend with two of my Dandies. My friend Lynn was there to help, as she loves the breed, too. There were other Scottish and Celtic dogs at the Games in the petting area, but we asked to be in the Clan building because we believe that the history of our Dandies would be appreciated by the people that visit the Clans. We had a constant line of people waiting to meet the dogs. They were interested in learning about the breed, its history ,and to meet a Dandie in person. The dogs were always wagging their tails with children, adults, seniors, and especially individuals with special needs that wanted to pet them. The adults were amazed at how laid-back Harper and Bebe were, rolling over for tummy scratches and loving all the attention. It was the hottest day of the Midwest “Heat Dome”, and we had lots of ice, water, a fan, and the girls were troopers. We had a number of people ask about the availability of both puppies and rescues. We handed out breeder referral cards and hope that a few of them result in new Dandie owners. As hot as it was, we still had a great time and plan to find more venues to introduce our Dandies.
