AKC Meet the Breed: Columbus, Ohio

floor. Yes, for the mobility challenged we picked them up for a proper face lick. Otherwise people sat on the floor and Rose (8 years) and Piper (8 months) came out to work their Dan- die magic. But there was this one young man with Down Syndrome who came by with his parents (they own a Pug!) and had a seat. Young Piper came out and crawled on him and showed him Dandie love like you would not imag- ine. Of course older Rose had to get in on the action and also showed him the love. Fast forward a few hours and he was back. He sat back down and the process repeated. His mom (to my untrained eye) appeared genu- inely affected. We didn't hear his name, but there was this human - Dandie connection made that he had not experienced with any of the other breeds. I was nearly in tears. Something that impressed me, with Piper and Rose and Gabby and Ollie and Toby, was that every interaction with people was genuine and loving, like, “ Hey, you are my new best friend! ” Thank you DDTCA for reaching out to us to assist. ” Please help us save our breed and par- ticipate in your local Meet the Breeds and other events that showcase how special our Dandies are. A special thank you to Bronnie Bond who was able to stand in for me at the last minute and take her marketing and historical in- formation to the event for the setup, and helped to provide the background of our wonderful breed to a large attendance of interested visitors. Everyone that participated had a wonderful time. I think the photos tell part of the story but the following note posted by Scott Clark on Facebook really explains how special these events can be. I copied this from Scott ’ s Face- book post: “ Jeanine Clark and I had the honor and pleasure of represent- ing the DDTCA and Dandie Din- monts at the AKC Meet the Breeds event in Columbus, Ohio. Being DDTCA members but Dandie - less for 16 months we jumped on the opportunity. We met some wonderful non - Dandies, and realize there are lots of breeds out there that are wonderful but not for us! They have lots of photos but I'm going to focus on three. Everyone who stopped by arrived curious but seemed to leave de- lighted. While most breeds were either on grooming or regular tables, the Dandies were on the
