Versatility Award Program Versatility, Versatility Excellent, and Versatility Supreme Awards D andie Dinmont Terriers are active and

versatile dogs. They were bred to have the skills and drive to excel in the field, and are happiest when working closely with their owners. Modern-day Dandies and their owners use these skills to compete in the many dogs sports available today. To recognize and preserve these traits and to encourage owners to enjoy them, the DDTCA offers the Versatility Award, the Versatility Excellent Award, and the Versatility Supreme Award. The Versatility Award scheme is designed so that the average Dandie and owner, with some effort, can earn the Versatility Award. No level of Versatility requires a conformation championship. Versatility awards are open to spayed or neutered Dandies as the goal is simply to recognize the versatile attributes of the breed. The Versatility awards are also available posthumously and retroactively, so please do not hesitate to nominate versatile dogs of the past. Versatility – This will be the introductory title that owners will be able to apply for after meeting the basic beginner requirements of 7 points in 3 categories. This award will be designated as a V behind the dog’s name. Versatility Excellent – This will be the second level to the program and can be achieved after meeting the requirements for the first title and adding some additional achievements in one additional category of events for a total of 12 points in at least 4 categories. This award will be designated as a VE behind the dog’s name. Versatility Supreme – This will be the highest level and will require a working title and a total of 15 points from 4 categories. This award will be designated as a VS behind a dog’s name. The Versatility Committee will verify and approve new applications and once per quarter, the Versatility Award Certificates will be printed and mailed to recipients. Additionally, a Parade of Honor where Versatility titled dogs are recognized at the National Specialty each year will be organized. Details for how to register your V, VE, VS titled dog for the Parade of Honor will be included in information regarding the next National Specialty. Long term goals for the program are to request AKC recognize the awards as a parent club awards and add them as a suffix title to a dog’s name.
